Life has a way of shifting relationships, sometimes in ways that are painful or confusing. But what if these changes aren’t random?

In a recent video, Isaiah Saldivar dives into why God might be the one orchestrating the removal of certain people from your life. Here are 10 possible reasons, each grounded in Scripture and personal experience.

1. Protection from Harm
“God sees their intentions, God sees hidden dangers that might be within their heart that you can’t see,” Saldivar says.

Sometimes, people in our lives carry unseen dangers—toxic attitudes, harmful behaviors—that can endanger not just our well-being but our very souls. God may remove these individuals as an act of protection, even if it feels painful in the moment.

2. Preventing Unequal Yoking
“Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers… How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness?” Saldivar explains.

Relationships that pull us away from our faith can hinder spiritual growth. Whether it’s friendships, romantic relationships, or work partnerships, God may separate you from those who don’t align with His will for your life.

3. Refocusing Priorities
“When you start placing people above God… God will step in and sometimes remove them to redirect your focus,” Saldivar says.

When a relationship becomes an idol—taking precedence over your relationship with God—it disrupts spiritual balance. God may remove those individuals to help realign your priorities and bring your focus back to Him.

4. Encouraging Spiritual Growth
“God wants your relationships to sharpen you… when you have people around that are spiritually harmful, God may remove them,” Saldivar notes.

If the people around you are keeping you spiritually stagnant or complacent, God may clear them out to make room for relationships that challenge and encourage your faith journey.

5. Discipline and Correction
“The Lord disciplines those He loves… If a relationship is leading you into sin or away from God, God will remove that as part of loving discipline,” Saldivar explains.

Just like a parent disciplines a child out of love, God may remove relationships that lead you down the wrong path. This isn’t rejection—it’s correction.

6. Opening New Opportunities
“When God is removing someone, it might be because He’s creating space for someone new,” Saldivar says.

Sometimes, letting go of one person makes room for someone better suited to your life’s purpose. God is always working to align your relationships with His greater plan.

7. Testing Your Trust in Him
“Losing someone you value can be a test of faith… God can separate you to see if you trust Him fully,” Saldivar points out.

When God removes people from your life, it’s an opportunity to lean deeper into your faith and trust that He knows what’s best, even when it’s hard to understand.

8. Breaking Generational or Spiritual Bondages
“Some people will keep you tied to those old patterns… God can remove them to help you walk in freedom,” Saldivar states.

People from your past can hold you back from the new life God has for you. Removing these connections can break unhealthy cycles and allow you to walk in spiritual freedom.

9. Fulfilling His Plan for Your Life
“Not every person you know right now is meant to be part of your journey,” Saldivar emphasizes.

Some relationships are only meant for a season. Trust that when God removes someone, He’s aligning your life with His purpose, even if it means letting go of people you thought were permanent.

10. Encouraging Complete Dependence on Him
“God wants to be your ultimate source of peace, of joy, of pleasure, of life,” Saldivar continues.

When relationships become crutches that replace your dependence on God, He may remove them to draw you closer to Him. Your deepest connection should always be with God.
