Archaeologists are not merely uncovering cities and kings mentioned in the Bible. They are finding evidence connected to people who appear only briefly in Scripture.
During a recent appearance on “The Roseanne Barr Podcast,” Dinesh D’Souza discussed “The Stones Cry Out,” his forthcoming book examining discoveries he says corroborate the Bible as a historical record.
“The Bible is history,” D’Souza said. “The historicity of the Bible is critical, and that’s what archaeology is in a position to corroborate.”
The Bible’s ‘Extras’ Found
Among the discoveries are clay seals bearing the names of Jehucal, son of Shelemiah, and Gedaliah, son of Pashhur. The two men appear in Jeremiah 38 as officials who sought the prophet’s death and had him lowered into a cistern.
“We’re not talking about here the major guys,” D’Souza said. “We’re talking about the minor characters, the also-rans, the extras, as you say in the movies.”

D’Souza said the names, locations and historical dating align with Jeremiah’s account.
“Since it’s not just the first name, but also the last name, and it’s dated to the sixth century, and it’s in the right area where Jeremiah was, it’s the guy,” he said.
Israel’s Enemies Confirm David
D’Souza also highlighted the Tel Dan Stele, an ancient monument documenting the victories of an Aramean king. Its inscription contains a reference to the “House of David.”
Until its discovery, D’Souza said skeptics argued that David could have been “like King Arthur” — a legendary ruler rather than a historical king.
“Suddenly the House of David, a phrase, by the way, commonly in the Bible, is validated,” he said.
He also discussed an inscription discovered in Jordan referring to Balaam son of Beor, the biblical diviner associated with the account of the talking donkey.
“Suddenly this guy, this sort of magical figure, jumps out of the pages of the Bible and into the pages of history via the pathway of archaeology,” D’Souza said.
Scripture Written in Stone
D’Souza’s book also examines the Dead Sea Scrolls, possible seals belonging to Isaiah and Hezekiah, archaeological locations connected to Abraham and a monumental structure that may have been David’s palace.
“I can show you a lot of things that corroborate the Bible,” D’Souza said, “but you cannot show me one thing, one significant archaeological finding that contradicts the Bible.”
