Erika Kirk Breaks Silence After Being Ridiculed for Emotional Reaction to DC Shooting

Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk has released a video statement after Saturday night’s D.C. shooting at the White House Correspondents Dinner, where she was in attendance.

“Our country has become unrecognizable,” Kirk stated. “These people have perverted the truth to the point that they motivated the murder of my husband. They have continuously tried to assassinate the president, and anyone who stands in their way is labeled hateful, racist, fascist…”

Kirk pointed out that the reason Turning Point USA exists is that Charlie Kirk didn’t trust the radicalized ideologies of the left that were taking over the nation.

“This past Saturday, it was a school teacher, of all people…that attempted to change our history for the worst with bullets.”

Kirk further noted her reasoning for going to the dinner in the first place.

And everyone is asking why I even went to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. And it was because many of the journalists in that room have attempted to dehumanize me, and I wanted to meet them face-to-face,” she said. “Why have a conversation about me when you can have a conversation with me?”

Kirk also discussed how, for one evening, all the journalists from opposing outlets appear to be able to get together, be in close proximity and set their differences aside. This is quite different from what we see on a daily basis with media outlets attacking one another over views.

She then moved on to the topic of what happened during the shooting.

“If you were in that room, you had no way of knowing what the status of the shooter was, how many there were, or, honestly, really anything. It was just utter chaos.”

Kirk then explained that during this active shooting, the journalists immediately took out their phones, trying to get clips, instead of thinking that they could have actually been shot during this process.

“Many of those people have become so desensitized that fight-or-flight became secondary to the opportunity of putting themselves into the story, which ironically, breaks the number one rule of journalism,” Kirk stated.

She also circled back to the topic of the shooter himself being a teacher, someone who is supposed to be focused on training up future generations.

“We have an even bigger problem when it comes to systemic indoctrination and radicalization of our own citizens,” Kirk said. “This is what got my husband killed. This is what has led to three legitimate attempts on President Trump’s life.”

“Every morning I wake up to a new headline about me,” she continued. “I have comedians dressing up in white face, I have people saying I’m not fit to be CEO, and I have Candace Owens claiming I murdered my husband.”

Kirk further talked about how violence has become increasingly acceptable in our society today, due to the media.

“The most unthinkable tragedies have now become commonplace in our daily headlines, yet the media finds a way to conveniently explain away violence.”

She continued: “What is happening right now is something none of us can afford to ignore. The evil forces working to divide us, to distract us and to pull us apart has never been stronger. This is a moment for Americans to come together and decide what kind of country we’re going to be before we lose our country altogether.”

Near the end of the message, Kirk pointed viewers back to the Word of God for biblical grounding in today’s world.

“In Romans chapter 12, verse 21, it says, ‘Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.’ And this is why my husband created Turning Point USA,” Kirk said.

In a moment marked by chaos, grief and division, Kirk’s words cut through the noise with a deeper question—one that goes far beyond politics, media narratives or even the tragedy itself. What kind of nation are we becoming when compassion is mocked, truth is blurred, and violence is normalized?

Scripture reminds us that in the last days, hearts will grow cold (Matt. 24:12), and what we are witnessing may very well be evidence of that chilling reality.

Yet even in the darkness, there remains a clear call for believers: do not mirror the chaos—rise above it.

This is not just a cultural battle—it is a spiritual one. And the victory will not come through outrage or retaliation, but through righteousness, courage and unwavering faith. In a time when evil seems loud and relentless, the church must choose to stand firm, speak truth and overcome evil with good—before the window to do so begins to close.
