What began as a journey through the Holy Land has become a nationally recognized exploration of the Bible’s historical foundations and prophetic future.

Dinesh D’Souza’s “The Stones Cry Out: Biblical Archaeology, Prophecy, and the Last Days” has reached No. 10 on The New York Times’ Advice, How-To and Miscellaneous bestseller list, marking another major achievement for the bestselling author and filmmaker.

Released Oct. 13 by Frontline, an imprint of Charisma Media, the book follows three years of research into archaeological discoveries that D’Souza believes offer compelling evidence for the historical reliability of Scripture.

The New York Times ranking comes on the heels of another publishing milestone. As Charisma previously reported, the book also reached No. 20 on Publishers Weekly’s hardcover nonfiction bestseller chart.

Yet behind the book’s growing recognition is a deeply personal encounter with the land where the biblical narrative unfolded.

In his September 2026 cover story for Charisma Magazine Online, D’Souza reflected on his first visit to Israel with his wife, Debbie, in December 2022. What began as a nine-day tour became an experience that profoundly reshaped his understanding of biblical history.

For D’Souza, Israel was unlike anywhere else he had traveled. The ancient cities, religious traditions and enduring connection between the Jewish people and their ancestral homeland presented a remarkable continuity between the biblical world and the present day.

The experience became especially significant at Caesarea Philippi, where D’Souza visited the remains of ancient pagan shrines associated with the worship of false gods.

Standing near a cave historically associated with the entrance to the underworld, D’Souza considered Jesus’ declaration in Matthew 16:18 that the gates of hell would not prevail against His church.

The setting gave the familiar passage an entirely new dimension.

As D’Souza explained in his cover story, he came to understand Jesus Christ’s words not simply as a spiritual metaphor but as a declaration of the church’s authority against the idolatry and darkness represented by the surrounding pagan culture.

The experience reflected a larger realization taking shape throughout his travels: The Bible was not merely describing events from a distant religious past. Its accounts were rooted in identifiable places, historical circumstances and civilizations whose physical remains could still be examined.

“God, I believe, has chosen this time in history to speak through the stones,” D’Souza wrote.

That conviction ultimately became foundational to “The Stones Cry Out,” which examines the relationship between archaeological discoveries, the credibility of Scripture and the prophetic significance of Israel.

D’Souza also argues that biblical archaeology carries implications extending far beyond historical scholarship. In his view, the growing body of evidence concerning Scripture’s past should encourage readers to consider its declarations about the future, particularly the prophetic events associated with the last days.

The book’s appearance on two nationally recognized bestseller lists places those questions before a wider readership at a time when the relationship between faith, history and scientific inquiry continues to generate debate.

For D’Souza, the investigation is about more than recovering ancient artifacts. It is about discovering whether the testimony of the past can deepen confidence in the promises of God concerning the future.

And with “The Stones Cry Out” now reaching the New York Times bestseller list, that conversation is extending well beyond the ancient landscapes where his journey began.
