The political winds are shifting in Washington, and Israel could soon find itself caught in the middle.
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro is raising eyebrows over the future of America’s relationship with Israel, suggesting that the Democratic Party’s position could depend heavily on whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains in power.
According to Breitbart News, Shapiro made the comments during NBC’s election coverage when questioned about the divisions among Democrats over Israel.
“A lot is going to depend on who the Israeli people ultimately select to be their prime minister,” Shapiro said.

“I think Benjamin Netanyahu has dramatically undermined the American-Israeli relationship,” Shapiro continued, arguing that the United States needs stability in the Middle East rather than the chaos he attributed to Netanyahu’s leadership.
However, even as questions swirl about the party’s position on Israel, Shapiro insisted Democrats are standing together.
“But I think what tonight showed, though, is the Democrats are united,” he said.
As Charisma reported, President Donald Trump also announced on Nov. 3 plans to end approximately $4 billion in annual American assistance to Israel after 2026 while continuing weapons sales to the Jewish state.
The issue is no longer simply who leads Israel. It is whether America’s relationship with the Jewish state will remain a steadfast alliance regardless of who occupies the prime minister’s office.
As political power shifts in Washington and Israel faces its own leadership uncertainty, one question looms larger than ever: Could America’s support for Israel become increasingly conditional on who governs Jerusalem?
