Body camera footage from the University of Central Florida has gone viral after a routine police response turned into a chaotic confrontation with a 27-year-old transgender student.
Many see another culture-war flashpoint.
As Christians, we should see something deeper.
According to police body camera footage published by Inside The Blue TV and reporting from The Gateway Pundit, officers entered a campus building in February of 2025 while investigating a stolen vehicle when Jarrett Vick confronted them, shouting, “Why do you let those kids get away with this? They are not supposed to be here?”
After an officer warned Vick he could be detained under Florida’s Baker Act, Vick replied, “F______ try it.” The officer later radioed that Vick was “having a breakdown,” prompting Vick to repeatedly scream, “She! She! Just say the right pronouns!”
Police said Vick resisted arrest, threw punches and kicks at officers, and continued resisting until he was tased. Afterward, one officer remarked, “He’s gonna need some care… There’s something wrong.”

More Than a Mental Health Crisis
As our culture moves further from God, demonic influence appears to be becoming more evident. The enemy’s work no longer hides in the shadows. It is reflected in the chaos, deception, and rebellion filling today’s headlines. What many dismiss as merely political, psychological, or cultural, Christians should also recognize as evidence of an ongoing spiritual war.
We should absolutely have compassion for anyone struggling with trauma or mental illness. Those battles are real. But Scripture also reminds us that “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against… spiritual forces of evil” (Eph. 6:12).
Satan has always attacked God’s created order through deception. Ancient Israel repeatedly turned to Ashtoreth, a Canaanite goddess whose worship represented rebellion against God and the corruption of His design, specifically gender and sexuality.
While the names have changed, the rebellion has not.
From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture affirms that God created humanity male and female. Today’s celebration of gender confusion is another example of a culture rejecting the Creator in favor of its own truth.
The Anti-Fruit of the Spirit
Watching the footage, we cannot help but notice the contrast with the fruit of the Spirit.
Instead of love, peace, gentleness, and self-control, the video displays rage, confusion, hostility, and chaos. Incidents like this should remind us that the enemy “comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy” (John 10:10).
Spiritual deception often works alongside trauma, brokenness, mental illness, and a culture that relentlessly promotes lies through entertainment and social media until truth itself becomes offensive.
Exactly What Paul Warned About
Paul wrote, “The time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine… They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn to myths” (2 Tim. 4:3-4).
Every day, we watch our society reject God’s design while embracing ideas that would have been unthinkable just a generation ago. The headlines themselves have become evidence that Paul’s warning was prophetic.
Jesus also warned us to stay awake. In the parable of the ten virgins, only those whose lamps were filled with oil were ready when the Bridegroom arrived (Matt. 25:1-13).
Rather than simply mocking another viral video, let it remind us to remain discerning, stand firmly on God’s Word, and keep our lamps full as we watch for Christ’s return.
