Christian author and researcher L.A. Marzulli says uncovering the Kandahar Giant story placed him on the government’s radar and brought chilling threats intended to silence him.
During an interview with Eric Metaxas, Marzulli recounted the 2001 incident involving U.S. soldiers operating in Afghanistan’s mountainous Kandahar region. After one patrol disappeared, another unit reportedly followed its trail to a cave.
“Out of the cave comes at least a 12-foot, red-haired, six-fingered, six-toed giant with a loincloth brandishing a lance,” Marzulli said.
The creature charged the soldiers and impaled one man, according to the testimony Marzulli collected. The remaining troops opened fire, killing and nearly decapitating the giant. They then discovered that it possessed two rows of teeth.
Marzulli said a large helicopter carried the body away. Military officials subsequently ordered the surviving soldiers to rewrite their reports and sign nondisclosure agreements.

This account does not rest on a single anonymous rumor. Marzulli said he gathered testimony from four independent sources, including a soldier involved in the confrontation and a special forces member sent back to investigate the cave.
“I’ve got four witnesses,” Marzulli said. “No collusion between any of them. All saying the same story.”
Breaking that story came at a cost. Marzulli said a government-connected figure approached him at a conference and threatened him in several ways. After asking what kind of car Marzulli drove, the man warned, “We can fix it so you can have a fiery crash.”
“The fact that we broke the story on the Kandahar Giant — they didn’t want that,” Marzulli said.
Scripture presents giants and supernatural beings as historical realities, not mythology. As believers, we should recognize that the biblical world never disappeared simply because modern institutions told us to stop believing in it.
