In a video posted to X, Donné Clement Petruska shared a clip from GIDI, where a man simply asked ChatGPT, “If you were the devil, how would you keep people as far away from God as possible without them realizing it?”

The AI response is not as wildly strange, theological or complex as we may think.
“If I were the devil and I wanted to keep people as far away from God as possible without them realizing it, I wouldn’t do it by outright denial,” the chatbot answers. “That’s too obvious. Instead, I’d work in subtle distractions, small shifts in focus that seem harmless, but over time, create a massive distance.”
This actually is perhaps one of the greatest tactics the enemy uses. If we can be busy, distracted, easily swayed away from the truth of God’s Word, then it is much easier to keep us away from His ultimate purpose for our lives.
“I’d start by corrupting mainstream religion, turning it into a tool for control, hypocrisy and division. I’d make people obsessed with this life. Their ambitions, their desires, their status. Not by telling them to abandon faith, but by making them too busy for it,” the video goes on to say.
These are all very true, real ways the enemy comes for us. While Satan does attack, it’s much easier to simply push people into consumption about their own dreams than it is to do anything else.
As an angel of light, Satan can make things appear harmless, even beneficial, while subtly undermining our focus on God’s truth. The real danger, then, lies not in an outright denial of faith but in the slow, unnoticed erosion of our relationship with God, leaving us too distracted to recognize the cost.
