“The Chosen” is heading to church before returning to television screens.
More than 40,000 churches worldwide have signed up to host early screenings of the first episode of Season 6, giving congregations an opportunity to experience the beginning of the show’s most ambitious season yet.
Creator Dallas Jenkins announced the unprecedented rollout during a Sunday night livestream, explaining that the weight of the coming season made churches the natural place to begin.
“We’ve never done this before, but we really, really want to do this this time,” Jenkins said. “The reason we’re doing it in churches is because this episode in particular, but this whole season is something that you might need a little bit of hand-holding.”
Season 6 will follow the final 24 hours of Jesus Christ’s earthly life. Viewers will witness His arrest, the disciples’ confusion and scattering, and the events leading to the crucifixion.

Jenkins said the season introduces ideas that could leave viewers with important questions, particularly those unfamiliar with the biblical account.
“So we want to give churches and pastors and priests the opportunity to shepherd their people through some of this,” Jenkins said. “There’s going to be questions, especially from people who don’t know the story very well.”
The early screenings offer churches more than a sneak peek. They create an opportunity for believers to gather, reflect upon the sacrifice of Christ and help others understand why the crucifixion remains central to the gospel.
“We’re approaching the crucifixion and the why of the crucifixion and what it meant and why it was not just some random event, but that it was the culmination of something that had been building, a story that had been told for thousands of years,” Jenkins said. “We think a church is a great place for you to kind of till the soil for this coming season.”
Surrender will stand at the heart of the season.
“Season 6 is really a lot about surrender,” Jenkins told the Deseret News. “We’re watching Jesus ultimately surrender to something that was extraordinarily painful.”
Churches can still register to host an early screening, while fans are being encouraged to share the opportunity with their local congregations.
Season 6 will officially debut on Prime Video with three episodes Nov. 15. Additional episodes will arrive weekly through Dec. 6, followed by a global theatrical finale in spring 2027.
Jenkins called it “the biggest we’ve ever done without a close second.”
For tens of thousands of churches, however, that historic season is beginning early—and it is beginning exactly where the story of Christ belongs: among His people.
