As believers around the world prepare to celebrate Shavuot 5786, Curt Landry and Pastor Tim Alsbaugh are calling Christians to expect nothing less than a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit’s power.
During a recent episode of the Curt Landry Podcast, the two leaders described this year’s Shavuot celebration as a divine moment of empowerment, healing and spiritual breakthrough.
“I think this last Passover was the most powerful encounter we’ve ever had in 26 years of doing Passovers,” Landry said. “This Shavuot, you’re not going to want to miss it because I think this will be…where God sends His fire to empower everything you’ve been through since Passover.”
The discussion centered around the biblical meaning of Shavuot—also known as Pentecost—and its connection to both the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2.
Alsbaugh explained that Shavuot represents more than tradition or ritual. Instead, he said it marks the moment when God’s instruction comes alive in believers through the Holy Spirit.

“They follow the instructions, they’re in the upper room, and then the fire of the Holy Spirit—that same fire that wrote those instructions on tablets of stone—now here He is setting upon each and every one of those believers,” Alsbaugh said. “Now that spirit is causing that word to come alive, not on tablets of stone, but now on tablets of their heart.”
Landry also emphasized the progression of the biblical feasts, describing Passover as deliverance, Shavuot as empowerment and Tabernacles as abiding in God’s presence.
“You deliver, you’re empowered, and you abide,” Landry said. “We’re coming up on the power.”
Throughout the conversation, both men pointed to growing chaos in the world as evidence that believers need spiritual boldness now more than ever.
“If the world ever needed a representation of what the kingdom of heaven really looked like, it’s today,” Alsbaugh said. “This is a season that the Lord is going to empower His people with that Holy Spirit to literally turn the earth upside down.”
Landry used a vivid illustration from a recent home repair project to explain the supernatural power available through the Holy Spirit. Comparing a machine that effortlessly removed hardened glue from a floor to the gifts of the Spirit, he said that many Christians are trying to operate by human effort rather than divine empowerment.
“Why are you as a Christian trying to scrape the glue off your floor when you can just sit there and [receive the power of the Holy Spirit]?” Landry said. “I’m expecting a power transfer tomorrow night at House of David.”
The two leaders also connected current world events, Bible prophecy and revival expectations to this year’s Shavuot observance, encouraging believers not to focus on fear but on what God is speaking in this hour.
“What’s going on with God? What’s He saying? What’s He speaking?” Alsbaugh said. “If you’ll tune in to what He’s saying…then what happens is it doesn’t make any difference what goes on anywhere else. You’re in alignment with Him.”
As anticipation builds for Shavuot 5786, Landry and Alsbaugh believe Christians are stepping into more than another church service. They say this is a moment for Christians to be filled afresh with the fire of God, empowered for the days ahead and awakened to the reality that the Holy Spirit still moves with miraculous power today.
