An Alabama teenager battling a devastating form of cancer is inspiring thousands across the country after a secret video plea to President Donald Trump went viral and helped him gain access to an experimental treatment many believed was out of reach.
Fifteen-year-old Will Roberts has spent the past 16 months fighting stage 4 osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer that spread throughout his body and ultimately led to the amputation of his leg, according to Fox News Digital.
In April, after enduring multiple surgeries and unsuccessful conventional treatments, Will quietly recorded a heartfelt message on his mother’s Facebook account without her knowledge.
“Hey, this is Will and my mom doesn’t know I’m doing this,” he said in the now-viral video. “Yall pls share this my mom might be mad but at this point I’m trying to help her in any way I can right now. I need this to reach President Donald Trump or secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior.”
The emotional plea touched hearts nationwide.
According to Fox News Digital, the video quickly spread online, raising more than $700,000 through GoFundMe and capturing the attention of President Trump, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Mehmet Oz.
Trump later sent the Roberts family a personal video message expressing support for Will and his fight. Kennedy and Oz also reportedly helped coordinate access to DeltaRex-G, an experimental gene therapy treatment still facing regulatory hurdles in the United States.
The Roberts family relocated to Santa Monica, California, earlier this month so Will could begin treatment.
“We’ve had two doctors look well in the face and tell him that they’ve never had a survivor at his stage,” Will’s father, Jason Roberts, told Fox News Digital. “That was enough for me and Brittney to get on the ball and, you know, try to find an alternative treatment.”
Doctors initially dismissed Will’s severe leg pain as growing pains before discovering the cancer in January 2025. After his leg was amputated, the family learned the disease had spread even further, including to his bladder, requiring another major surgery.
Despite the crushing diagnosis, Will’s parents say their son remained focused on helping others.
“It was nothing more than a child’s pure heart speaking out,” Jason Roberts said. “I think the reason that it went viral is because of his selflessness in the video. And he was like, you know, it might be too late for me, but if it can help others, I want to help others.”

The family also spoke openly about the role faith has played throughout the journey.
“You know, without God, I don’t think any of this would be possible,” Jason Roberts told Fox News Digital. “In fact, I know it would not be possible because we’ve seen mountains moved along this journey.”
Today, Will has completed his second week of treatment and reportedly experienced only mild side effects while continuing both the experimental therapy and chemotherapy regimen.
Stories like Will’s remind us that even in moments that appear impossible, God is still moving. We serve Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals, restores and performs miracles in a moment of suddenly.
Let us continue lifting up Will, his parents and everyone walking through this painful battle. Pray for strength, peace, supernatural healing and breakthrough. Pray that doors continue to open and that this young man’s testimony points countless people back to the faithfulness and power of God.
