  • Owning Cursed Objects

The last thing you want to own is a cursed object. I don’t care if it’s worth millions; let it go. Become sensitive to things that are linked to darkness. Meditate on the following scriptures; they are very clear about darkness and light.

  • Ephesians 5:7-9: “So do not participate or even associate with them [in the rebelliousness of sin]. For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of Light [live as those who are native-born to the Light] (for the fruit [the effect, the result] of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth).
  • 1 John 2:15: “Do not love the world [of sin that opposes God and His precepts], nor the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

Owning a cursed object is like having a nail ready for your spiritual coffin. A cursed object is something consecrated and dedicated to
demonic forces. It has demon attachments. It might be a necklace, picture, or statue. It could be a rabbit’s foot, as harmless as that seems. Not everything cute is harmless, and not everything shiny is gold.

  • Not Paying Tithes and Therefore Robbing God

This subject always turns some people upside down because of the fake doctrines or false theologies they entertain about whether they should give God what belongs to Him. The truth is that not tithing brings a curse on your finances.

This issue affects many people I deeply love. I long to see them prosper so we can further the kingdom of Jesus Christ on the earth. God entrusts us with our finances. I believe the Bible points to a transfer of wealth in the end-time when it says that “the wealth of the sinner is stored up for [the hands of] the righteous” (Prov. 13:22). My prayer is for you to be in God’s perfect will so you can receive the blessing when the time comes. Then you can use it with a godly mentality to further ministries and missionaries, help build churches and help the poor and hungry as the Holy Spirit leads.

  • Harboring Unforgiveness

Unforgiveness may be the deadliest poison in the world and the body of Christ. It causes a slow, spiritual death, like falling into quicksand. Only one person can throw you a rope and pull you out: the Lord Jesus Christ. Yet many of us reject that rope and keep sinking.

Jesus showed us how to forgive. Mark 11:25–26 says, “Whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him [drop the issue, let it go], so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions and wrongdoings [against Him and others]. [But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your transgressions.]” You can believe the devil’s lies and stay in bondage, or you can trust the Lord Jesus Christ and forgive others.

  • Mixing the World with Christ: Search Your Heart, Search Your Mind

Is there any mixture in your life today? Do you have one foot in the world and one in church? Is one foot in bed with the enemy and the other in the holy of holies? The Bible tells us to avoid the paths of the ungodly and keep our feet on solid ground. (See Proverbs 1:15–16.) That means we need to choose where we stand.

Spiritually where are you standing right now? It might be time to do some spiritual homework and find out. If you were to grade yourself, what would your grade be? Would you give yourself an A? An F? Something in between? Are you ready to be transparent? I know you’re human. I know you’re a work in progress. I am too. But don’t use that as an excuse. You can’t just say, “Well, God knows where I’m at. He understands.” You and I need to judge ourselves honestly.

  • Lacking Spiritual Consistency

Spiritual consistency involves following through and finishing what you started. To be spiritually consistent means to focus on what is happening not in the natural realm but in the spiritual realm. That requires discernment and patience. I don’t believe that every instance of spiritual warfare ends with the enemy being knocked out in the first round. Sometimes God wants us to go through a process that helps us develop the spiritual consistency we lack.

In the forest, you can’t take one swipe at a tree with your axe and expect it to fall. Unless you keep chopping, the thing will not come down. The same is true in the spirit realm. We sometimes pray about certain issues for a couple of days or a week. Then, if God doesn’t show up by Thursday, we quit. We don’t realize that days, weeks, or months away from the promised land, we have given up the fight.

It’s time we stopped putting Jesus Christ on the time clock. We need to walk out our faith with the spiritual consistency the Holy Spirit gives us so we can get to the other side. That means not giving up before the victory comes. It means continuing to trust the Lord Jesus Christ, walking with Him and praying it through until He releases the victory.
