“If I’m focusing on what’s ahead, I’m going to ahead. If I’m focusing on what’s behind, what I’m trying to leave, I’m not going to go ahead because I’m facing the wrong way,” Cahn says.

Cahn points out that when we spend time in the presence of the Lord, we have fullness of joy. When we are filled up with the Spirit of God, the temptation of this world loses its power against us. We are to not only desire the avoidance of sin, but we should be seeking out how we can please the Lord.

“You cannot dwell in two places at once. So, if you’re dwelling, you’ve set up your tent in the heavenlies, you’re not going to be able to live in the other place. You’ll want to leave sin,” says Cahn.

If we want to live a life that is focused on heaven, we must die to self. If want to combat the spiritual giants against us, then we must fill up ourselves with Christ, and die to the flesh.

“[The Bible] says your life is not on earth. Your life is with God above. Set your heart on the things above. You are to tent out, you’re to camp out, in the heavenly places wherever you live,” Cahn says.

Keeping our mind fixed on Jesus, no matter what comes our way, is vital in this time. Each day we are getting closer to His second coming. We have to keep this in mind with all the things that we do and face.

“We’re not getting ready for the grave. We’re getting ready for a wedding,” says Cahn. “And the bride has to get ready to leave the old house to go to the new house.”

In this world, we will continue to face many struggles, and we the encounters with spiritual battles will not stop. But when we draw close to the Lord, when we press into Him, we are ultimately keeping our attention on the only one who can calm the stormy seas of life.
