After more than five decades of ministry, Benny Hinn says the most important lesson he has learned isn’t about miracles, healing services or spiritual gifts.
It’s about the Word of God.
During a recent teaching on prayer and intimacy with Christ, Hinn pointed viewers to Matthew 21:22, where Jesus declared, “All things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”
Yet Hinn argued that many believers miss the deeper foundation behind that promise.
“People ask me often, ‘What have you learned after 50 years of ministry?'” Hinn said. “I’ve learned that the gifts will not keep you. Signs and wonders will not keep you. Only the Word of God will keep you. Only the Word of Life will keep you.”
Throughout the message, Hinn repeatedly emphasized that answered prayer flows from a living relationship with Jesus rather than from simply repeating requests before God.
“The oneness with the Lord is the key,” he said. “And that oneness with the Lord remains strong through His Word in us and us in Him.”

Hinn encouraged believers to see Christ not merely as a source of blessings but as life itself. Referring to passages in Philippians and 1 John, he described Jesus as “the Word of Life” and stressed that true spiritual vitality is found only in Him.
“The whole world is going in reverse,” Hinn said. “They go from life to death. They go from strength to weakness. They go from health to sickness. But the moment we come to the Lord Jesus … we begin to go forward.”
Addressing those facing personal struggles, Hinn challenged viewers to identify the “mountains” standing before them—whether sickness, bondage, emotional pain or other difficulties—and bring those needs to God in faith.
However, he warned that many Christians approach prayer only when circumstances become desperate.
“When you call on the Lord only when you have a problem, that is a problem,” Hinn said. “We have to call upon Him all the time. It’s a fellowship. It’s a communion. It’s a love relationship.”
One of the strongest portions of the message focused on private devotion. Citing Matthew 6:5-6, Hinn urged believers to spend time alone with God, arguing that intimacy with Christ cannot be developed amid constant distractions.
“When you’re alone with God, you’re telling the Lord, ‘You are my delight, Lord,'” he said.
The message concluded with a challenge for believers to cultivate private worship before seeking public ministry. According to Hinn, genuine worship is born in secret fellowship with God.
“If you’re not a worshiper, you can’t bring people into God’s presence if you don’t know how to get there yourself,” he said.
For Hinn, the secret to a life marked by answered prayer, spiritual growth and enduring faith remains remarkably simple: stay close to Jesus through His Word.
