Why The Holy Spirit Woke Him at 4:44 AM With a Powerful Prophetic Message

Sometimes God uses the quietest hours of the night to get our attention.

Christian speaker Alwyn Uys says that after repeatedly waking just before 4:44 a.m., he began praying about whether the unusual pattern carried a message from the Lord. What followed was a prophetic word he believes may speak directly to believers experiencing rejection, transition and unexpected change.

The experience began after a dream on Sept. 17.

“Every single time the Lord would wake me up at 4:43 and the moment I look at my clock or my phone that’s on the nightstand, the clock would tick over to 4:44,” Uys says.

However, Uys quickly makes one thing clear: This isn’t about numerology.

“This has nothing to do with angel numbers or numerology or anything like that,” he says. Instead, Uys says the Holy Spirit directed his attention toward Luke 4 and the beginning of Jesus’ Galilean ministry.

Luke 4:14 describes Jesus returning to Galilee “in the power of the Spirit.” Later in the chapter, Jesus returns to Nazareth, where He faces rejection from those in His hometown.

For Uys, that rejection became a central piece of the message.

“Just because you were rejected in the place that you’re in right now, God is moving you to fertile ground,” Uys says. “The Spirit of God is upon you. The hand of God is upon you to be a witness for His glory.”

For believers wondering why doors keep closing or why those closest to them cannot recognize what God has placed on their lives, Uys’ message carries a striking possibility: Rejection may not mean the assignment is over. It could be part of God’s repositioning.

Pointing to Luke 4:18, where Jesus quotes Isaiah’s prophecy about preaching the gospel, healing the brokenhearted and proclaiming liberty to the captives, Uys emphasizes that believers aren’t being sent out alone. They are called to move in the Holy Spirit’s power.

Then his message becomes even more specific.

“Some of you are suddenly packing up and moving,” Uys says. “Where God is sending you is going to be fertile soil to receive you.”

He believes God may already be preparing the destination before His people ever arrive.

“God has been preparing the soil where you are going a long time before you even arrived,” Uys says. “It’s kind of like the people are awaiting your arrival without them even knowing it.”

Yet Uys isn’t telling viewers to pack their belongings simply because they heard his prophetic word. He specifically encourages them to seek God personally.

“I pray that you take this word to the Lord,” he says, acknowledging that packing up and moving is no small decision.

Perhaps that’s the most important takeaway.

God’s preparation doesn’t always look like promotion. Sometimes it looks like separation. Sometimes it looks like rejection. And sometimes the Lord closes the chapter in one place because He’s preparing fertile ground somewhere else.

If the ground beneath your feet suddenly feels like it’s shifting, don’t assume the assignment is finished.

God may simply be changing the soil.
