Author and near-death-experience survivor Randy Kay believes today’s generation will witness the return of Jesus Christ, pointing to an unprecedented convergence of biblical prophecy, modern history and testimonies from people who encountered the afterlife.
“Soon means years, not decades,” Kay said in a recent video. “Those of us alive on the earth right now are the final generation.”
Kay said his conclusion is not based on an emotional response to world events or an attempt to calculate the date of Christ’s return. Instead, he argued that numerous prophetic conditions have been fulfilled within a single lifetime.
“What I am describing to you is not a calculation,” Kay said. “It is a convergence.”
Israel and the Prophetic Clock
Kay identified the restoration of Israel in 1948 as the central marker. He connected the event to Jesus’ parable of the fig tree in Matthew 24, where Christ said the generation witnessing the signs He described would not pass away until they were fulfilled.
“For 1,900 years, the clock had not started,” Kay said. “There was no Israel.”
The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls shortly before Israel became a nation also carries prophetic significance, he said. The scrolls preserved portions of Scripture written before Christ, including Isaiah 53 and its description of the suffering servant.
Kay also pointed to Jerusalem’s return to Jewish sovereignty in 1967, the revival of Hebrew, the worldwide spread of Scripture and technology capable of allowing the entire world to witness events simultaneously.
“There has never been a convergence like this,” he said. “Not once, not even close.”

A Warning Filled With Mercy
Kay said the recent increase in reported near-death experiences is another part of that convergence. After interviewing more than 600 people, he said three messages repeatedly emerged: Jesus Christ is real, heaven and hell are real, and Jesus is coming soon.
He warned that counterfeit spiritual experiences are also increasing. The test, Kay said, is whether a testimony glorifies Jesus or elevates the storyteller as the source of secret spiritual knowledge.
“A genuine encounter turns your attention toward Jesus Christ,” he said.
Kay rejected setting a date for Christ’s return, citing Jesus’ declaration that no one knows the day or hour. However, he said Christians are still commanded to recognize the prophetic season.
For those of us who belong to Christ, Kay said His return is not something to fear.
“If you belong to Jesus Christ, this is not a threat,” he said. “It is your rescue.”
For everyone else, the warnings represent an opportunity to repent while mercy remains available.
“Surrender. Not improve,” Kay said. “Surrender.”
