The scattering of the Jewish people was never the end of their story. God promised to gather them home, and Israeli guide Chaim Malespin says that promise is unfolding in the land today.

Speaking with Sheila Walsh near the Sea of Galilee in a video from Biblical Archaeology on TBN, Malespin connected the return of Jewish people to Israel with Scriptures declaring God’s determination to restore His scattered people.

“It’s a mystery of the ages that God allowed us to be scattered, but yet he promises in his covenants and his prophecies he’s going to gather us,” Malespin said.

The discussion centered on aliyah, Jewish immigration to Israel, a term meaning “going up.” Malespin, who said he made aliyah himself, described that homecoming as a work of God reaching across the nations.

At the heart of his explanation was Jeremiah 32:41, which describes God planting His people in the land with all His heart and soul.

Malespin emphasized the extraordinary weight of that promise. Israel’s restoration concerns something God declares He will accomplish with the fullness of His own commitment.

“And what I’m seeing here with the Galileans that are back is God is putting his heart once again into the restoration of this land,” he said.

The conversation also carried a challenge for Christians: Take seriously the Scriptures describing the nations’ involvement in that return.

Malespin pointed to Isaiah 49:22, which depicts the nations carrying Israel’s sons and daughters in their arms and on their shoulders. He connected that prophetic picture with assistance being provided through the Aliyah Return Center.

Walsh said the passages had confronted her personally as she studied them before their meeting.

“We are called to bless Israel, to support the Jewish people being able to go back to their land,” she said.

That responsibility reaches back to God’s covenant with Abraham. Chaim connected the promise of the land with God’s declaration that all the families of the earth would be blessed through Abraham.

The return, he explained, carries a purpose extending beyond the people coming home.

“And so there’s a mandate for us to be able to bless you right from the Galilee,” Malespin said.

Against the peaceful backdrop of the Mount of Beatitudes, the discussion brought ancient covenant promises into the present. The land where Jesus taught His disciples became the setting for a conversation about God’s faithfulness, Israel’s restoration and the responsibility to respond.

Walsh spoke of praying for Jerusalem’s peace and supporting the Jewish people’s return.

“I took that personally as a challenge,” she said.

Malespin captured his conviction about the unfolding restoration in a brief declaration: “Israel’s back. The lights are back on.”
