How can an inner-city Los Angeles ministry be comprised of an astounding 270-plus programs? Here’s just a small sample of how the Dream Center reaches out to its neighbors:
- Adopt-a-Block
Every Saturday volunteers load Dream Center buses with food to distribute and take a heart to serve into the local neighborhoods. Workers clean streets and go door-to-door meeting the people and inviting them to church. This relationship-based program has led thousands to accept Christ.
- Bus Ministry
Need a ride to church? The Dream Center will pick you up. Being able to attend church to connect, get involved and grow spiritually is vital. So every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, volunteer bus drivers provide transportation for those who otherwise would not be able to make it to church.
- Food Outreaches
Food Truck—Several times a week, mobile pantries make deliveries to those who live in the inner city.
Under the Bridge—This program ministers to the 100,000 homeless in the Los Angeles metro area. Four days a week, teams of volunteers go out and serve about 1,000 hot meals weekly.
Food Bank—The Dream Center receives approximately 1 million pounds of food each month. This outreach stocks all the food programs and holds two on-site giveaways a week.
Food Chapel—The Dream Center serves two hot meals per day to many people who don’t know where their next meal will come from.
- Residential Program
Family Floor—Homeless families receive shelter, food, medical care and clothing. Even more, they have a chance to set a new course for their lives. Parents can not only receive parental training and family counseling, they can also earn a GED degree.
Project Hope LA—This endeavor fights sex trafficking, exploitation and abuse. Victims receive medical care, counseling, legal aid, job placement, education as well as spiritual development.
Discipleship—This intense, yearlong, Bible-based program is designed to help those struggling with any type of substance abuse or life-controlling issues.
