With the threat of nuclear escalation looming over the Middle East, best-selling author and prophecy expert Joel Rosenberg says Israel is in “the most consequential war that Israel has ever fought since the war of independence in 1948.”
Speaking from Jerusalem with CBN’s Billy Hallowell, Rosenberg described the gravity of the moment: “This is a winner-take-all battle between the Jewish state of Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran.” He emphasized Iran’s proximity to completing its nuclear arsenal, stating, “They are just weeks away from having enough enriched uranium to do it.”

Yet amid destruction, Rosenberg believes this may be a moment of both military triumph and spiritual transformation for Israel. “The entire Iranian plan to destroy Israel, to wipe Israel off the planet, is in ruins,” he said. “I believe Israel is winning decisively because of the prayers of millions and millions… of followers of Jesus Christ.”
Prophetic Possibilities: Where Are We in Ezekiel 38?
Referencing the prophecy of Gog and Magog, Rosenberg outlined two possible prophetic scenarios that could unfold from this war:
- Scenario 1 (Less Likely):
“The Iranians will be so humiliated… that the Iranian leadership… turns to Vladimir Putin and says… ‘Come punish them with us.’”
Rosenberg cautioned, however, that Iran’s forces are nearly destroyed and Russia is stretched thin in Ukraine. - Scenario 2 (More Likely):
“We could live a decade, two decades, five decades in a season of such peace, prosperity, security… that everyone would think, ‘Wow, I don’t think that war of Gog and Magog is ever going to happen.’”
He shared hope for a regime change in Iran and even referenced a meeting with Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi who expressed interest in establishing “the Cyrus Accords… based on the idea of King Cyrus the Great.”
How Christians Should Pray
Rosenberg didn’t just offer analysis, he issued a call to prayer:
- “Pray that we can finish off destroying the Iranian nuclear and ballistic missile threat before we run out of missile interceptors.”
- “Pray for the Israelis that have been traumatized by these attacks.”
- “Pray boldly and consistently… use this moment to move people to the Scriptures… to the prophecies… is it possible that [the Messiah] did come and we missed Him?”
- “Pray… that the war would end with the total destruction of Hamas in Gaza and the liberation of our hostages.”
- “Pray for the liberation of Iran… this wicked demonic regime [to] fall.”

He concluded with a powerful vision: “I would like to… cover a liberated, moderate, pro-American, pro-Israel Iran from the streets of Tehran. That would be one for the ages.”
As the fog of war continues to settle over the Middle East, Rosenberg’s message reminds believers that even in the darkest moments, God’s hand is still at work. Let us continue to pray, stand, and believe for the peace of Jerusalem and the redemption of all nations.
