A Russian strike destroyed a humanitarian warehouse operated by Ukraine for Christ, wiping out years of supplies used to serve displaced families, grieving households, soldiers and communities near the front lines.
The Aug. 28 attack destroyed the ministry’s office, food, equipment, tools, generators and vehicles, according to Christian Daily International. Global Aid Network Canada also reported that 29 elderly residents died when the strike hit a neighboring care home.
“Now everything has been destroyed: food, boxes, equipment, tools, generators, vehicles,” Ukraine for Christ said in a Facebook statement.
The warehouse had served as one of the ministry’s primary aid centers since June 2022. More than 1,000 volunteers from churches and charitable organizations assembled approximately 175,000 food parcels there. Partner ministries from Germany, the Netherlands and Austria sent more than 600 metric tons of relief supplies through the facility.
“This was much more than a storage facility,” the ministry said.
More than 300 churches and nonprofit organizations helped distribute its aid throughout Ukraine. Ministry teams also departed from the warehouse to serve communities near the fighting. Part of the property housed displaced families in converted shipping containers.
Taking the Gospel Into Dangerous Places
The destruction reveals a reality Christians fulfilling the Great Commission have faced throughout history: Following Jesus into suffering is rarely safe.
Yet danger does not mean God has abandoned His people. Psalm 46:1 declares, “God is our refuge and strength, a well-proven help in trouble.” His protection does not always mean escaping hardship. It means His presence, strength and purposes remain secure even in life’s darkest moments.
Christ commanded His followers to go into the world and make disciples. That calling takes us beyond the comfort of church buildings and into war zones, disaster areas and hostile territories. We go because people facing death and displacement need practical help—and because they desperately need the eternal hope found in Jesus Christ.

Ukraine for Christ carried that hope through food parcels, housing, chaplaincy and evangelistic materials. The strike destroyed those physical resources, including items connected to the ministry’s evangelistic outreach, The Four. It did not destroy the ministry’s faith.
“We believe this is not the end,” Ukraine for Christ declared. “God will give us opportunities to continue this ministry and to bring the hope of the Gospel, which Ukrainians need more and more with each passing day.”
Buildings can fall, supplies can burn and believers can encounter tremendous danger. But the gospel is not anchored to a warehouse. It is anchored to Jesus Christ, and no missile can destroy it.
