Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that his department is reviewing allegations involving the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ (CAIR) alleged terror ties.
“HHS has requested a review of allegations involving @CAIRNational and its affiliates @CAIRCalifornia and @CAIRWashington regarding the use of federal grant funds,” Kennedy wrote on X. “Americans deserve full transparency when taxpayer dollars are involved. If there is evidence of fraud, abuse, or ties to designated terrorist organizations, we will act.”
The investigation follows Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) sending a letter to Kennedy in April, where he requested that HHS “conduct a full investigation into CAIR’s grant compliance and terrorist affiliations, and promptly initiate suspension if the organization is found to be in non-compliance.”

“I have shared these concerns with @SecRubio and encouraged a full @StateDept review of any information relevant to this matter,” he added. “Accountability is not optional. Protecting the integrity of federal programs is our responsibility.”
Roy thanked Kennedy for taking his request. “Americans should not be forced to subsidize organizations that are accused of supporting or facilitating terrorism. Following my request for oversight, I am encouraged and thank Secretary Kennedy Jr. for investigating CAIR’s alleged ties to groups such as Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as the use of millions of taxpayer dollars awarded to the organization.”
“If any misuse of federal funds is uncovered, those responsible must be held accountable, future grants should be terminated, and taxpayers deserve full transparency about how their money was spent,” he said.
Other members of Congress have also called for investigations into CAIR’s activities. Last year, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to investigate CAIR, claiming that the entity is linked to Hamas and other terrorist groups.
Cotton previously urged the IRS to launch a full investigation into CAIR, arguing that its terror ties violate its tax-exempt status.
