Even in the middle of her greatest personal battle, Daystar co-founder Joni Lamb never stopped pointing people to Jesus.
In an emotional tribute shared publicly after her passing, Lamb’s daughter, Rachel Lamb Brown, recounted one final moment that captured the heart of the longtime Christian broadcaster and ministry leader: moments before undergoing a medical procedure, she led her own doctor back to Christ.
“My mom taught me so many things through her life,” Brown shared in the video testimony. “But one of the greatest lessons that she taught me was what it truly means to live mission-minded.”
A Calling Bigger Than the Pain
Over the last several months of her life, Brown said Lamb’s family watched her mother endure intense physical challenges while still remaining deeply committed to ministry.
“Watching her over these last several months, I marveled at her strength,” Brown said. “The calling inside of her was bigger than any of the pain that she was feeling.”

According to Brown, Lamb refused to retreat from the assignment God had placed on her life. Despite repeated encouragement from loved ones to slow down and rest, she continued ministering publicly, appearing on television and sharing the gospel whenever she could.
“We tried so many times to encourage her to slow down and rest,” Brown said. “But she kept doing television. She kept singing. She kept ministering because her greatest desire was always people.”
Brown added that her mother “never lost sight of the people who needed hope, the love of God and the message of the gospel.”
The Eternal Question That Changed a Doctor’s Life
One story in particular stood out as a defining picture of who Lamb was.
“Right before a procedure that she had to have, moments before doctors were about to put her under anesthesia, my mom looked at her doctor and asked, ‘If you died today, do you know where you would spend eternity?’”
Even while facing uncertainty about her own health, Lamb’s focus remained fixed on eternity and the salvation of others.
“And even in that moment, facing her own battle, her heart was still focused on someone else knowing Jesus,” Brown said.
The question deeply impacted the physician.
“Before the procedure even started, that doctor ended up rededicating his life back to the Lord,” she revealed.
Brown said that moment perfectly reflected the way her mother lived her life: always carrying Christ’s mission wherever she went.
“And that was who she was,” Brown said. “It didn’t matter where she was or what she was walking through; her mission never changed.”
Carrying the Mission Forward
Brown also made it clear that her mother’s legacy will not end with her passing.
“We continue building on everything my mom and dad gave their lives to,” she shared. “Because if my mom were standing here today, she would tell us there’s still so much more to do.”
She said the greatest way to honor Lamb’s life is to continue carrying the gospel to a hurting world.
“I truly believe the greatest way that we can honor her life is not just by remembering what she did, but by carrying that same heart forward,” Brown said. “Reaching people, loving people and refusing to lose sight of the mission.”
Lamb’s final testimony serves as a powerful reminder that the mission of Christ never pauses. Even in weakness, pain and uncertainty, the gospel still has power to transform lives—and eternity is still worth fighting for.
