President Donald Trump’s plans for the future of Gaza are beginning to move from diplomatic discussions toward boots on the ground. However, Israel has not yet given the green light for one of the plan’s first major physical steps.
According to The Jerusalem Post, construction has not begun on a proposed military outpost that would house international forces inside Gaza.
The project is tied to Trump’s Board of Peace and was discussed as Gaza’s first construction contract. Yet two months after the contract was issued, Israel reportedly has not allowed the contractors and construction equipment needed to enter.
“Israel won’t open the border,” a source familiar with the matter told The Guardian.
The proposed base would accommodate nearly 150 international troops and, according to reports, is expected to be constructed by Arkel International, a Louisiana-based company.

The troops would be part of the International Stabilization Force, an international security presence envisioned as a key component of Trump’s plan for Gaza.
A source told The Guardian that rebuilding cannot proceed without a stabilization force in place, emphasizing the need for security before construction equipment, utilities, and other basic infrastructure can be established.
For now, that leaves a consequential piece of Trump’s Gaza strategy waiting on Israel.
The Board of Peace reportedly believes Israeli officials could allow the project to advance following the country’s Oct. 27 elections.
