A proposed Massachusetts bill is sparking controversy because it would create a permanent, taxpayer-funded commission to solely promote and support Muslims. 

The controversial Massachusetts measure, Senate Bill S.2134 and House Bill H.3351, is entitled, “An Act promoting the civil rights and inclusion of American Muslims in the commonwealth.”

The proposed legislation aims to establish a state-funded commission focused on Muslim Americans. Its goals include promoting Muslim participation in public life “to combat Islamophobia.” 

The Boston Herald reports the bill would even form a commission “prioritizing qualified American Muslims in Massachusetts for jobs in state government over other residents of different religious backgrounds.”

CBN News spoke with Dexter Van Zile, managing editor of Focus on Western Islamism, regarding the bill. He argues the bill violates the U.S. Constitution and Article III of the Massachusetts Constitution, as well.
