As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the way people communicate, one pastor is embracing the technology in a way he believes could expand ministry far beyond the walls of a church.

Pastor Justin Lester recently announced the launch of his own AI-powered digital twin, describing it as a tool that allows people to interact with his teaching around the clock through text, voice and even video conversations.

In a TikTok video, Lester invited viewers who have wanted to connect with him but have not had the opportunity to do so to instead interact with what he calls his “AI twin.”

“If you click ‘chat’ below… I’ll send you a link to my 24/7 AI twin,” Lester said.

According to Lester, the AI has been trained using his sermons, teachings and other ministry content, allowing it to respond in a way that reflects the biblical instruction and perspectives he has shared publicly over the years.

“It’s trained on everything I’ve ever talked about, everything I’ve ever engaged in,” he said. “It’s updated daily.”

Lester framed it as an extension of his existing teaching ministry, enabling people to ask questions and receive responses at any time of day.

He explained that users can communicate with the AI in multiple ways, including text messaging, phone calls and video conversations.

“You can call me, you can text me, you can video with me,” Lester said, emphasizing the variety of ways people can interact with the platform.

Lester also made a careful distinction between himself and the technology behind the experience.

“It’s not me, but it is me,” he said, acknowledging that while the conversations are powered by artificial intelligence rather than a live interaction, the responses are intended to reflect his biblical worldview and years of ministry teaching.

The announcement highlights a growing conversation within the church about the role artificial intelligence may play in discipleship, biblical education and pastoral outreach. While some Christian leaders have expressed caution over relying too heavily on AI for spiritual guidance, others see the technology as another communication tool that, when used wisely, can help make sound biblical teaching more accessible to people seeking answers.

Lester encouraged viewers to experience the technology for themselves, inviting anyone interested to comment the word “chat” to receive access to the platform.

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly woven into everyday life, initiatives like Lester’s AI twin raise important questions for believers.

Can AI serve as a valuable ministry resource while preserving the irreplaceable role of genuine Christian community, discipleship and pastoral care? The answer may ultimately depend less on the technology itself and more on whether it remains firmly rooted in biblical truth and points people toward Christ rather than replacing authentic relationships within the body of believers.
