As Premier Christian News noted, the band’s frontman, Adam Agee told the audience: “As a result of all this—and the things that have come out, that [Michael Tait] has done and confessed to—we’ve been dropped from our record label. We’ve had radio stations pull our music. We’ve been canceled by promoters and venues all over the world.”
In a video on YouTube, Agee described how the news about Tait stunned the band.
“A couple of weeks ago, our world was rocked by the devastating news about what that confession and what that double life really was,” says Agee. “He had mentioned a few things about substance abuse and some personal struggles he was having at home when he wasn’t on the road, but never anything of the magnitude of what we read and what was reported, and never anything, never seen anything that could have made us think that it could possibly be a danger to others or anything like that.”
This announcement comes as more details surface regarding Tait, including accusations that he witnessed a woman being assaulted by one of the band’s lighting technicians. As the Christian Post reported, video footage that has been obtained by police show Tait walking in and leaving the room multiple times early in the morning of Dec. 16, 2014.
Newsboys management has since started their own investigation into the situation, stating that this is “…an egregious scenario that we take very seriously.”
