In a confessional statement posted to Instagram, Tait confirmed reports that had circulated in recent days, acknowledging struggles with drug and alcohol abuse, as well as addressing the shocking allegations made regarding sexual abuse of several young men over the years.
Tait said he left the Newsboys in January “to get help” and that he was “tired of leading a double life.”
He admitted to deceiving those closest to him during that time. He wrote that he lied to family, friends and bandmates while he was living this double life, adding that he violated everything he was taught by his parents “about walking with Jesus.”
Tait expressed remorse for the pain he caused over the years, writing that he hurt many people in a multitude of ways over the decades.
Following this weighty confession, Tait also noted that the process of restoration had already begun. He said that even before leaving the band he “started on a path to health, healing and wholeness,” concluding the statement with King David’s prayer in Psalm 51.

This is a correct step forward for him and a biblical example of accepting his own sin and not demanding others forgive him at this time. He trusts in the God of grace and mercy that we all must give an account to. Thank You Lord Jesus for Your great love for us, you remember our frame, that we are but dust.
He without Sin cast the first Stone . We are Sinners saved by Grace. Jesus is the only Way.
