Country music fans know Chris Janson for hits like “Buy Me a Boat,” but behind the scenes, there’s more to the man than just a microphone and a melody. When he’s not performing, Janson is out in nature—living out his faith, building lasting memories with his kids and embracing a simpler, more grounded life.

As reported by Fox News, Janson opened up about how the outdoors isn’t just a hobby—it’s a spiritual journey. “A lot of people find God in certain places. I happened to find Him in those moments,” he said, referring to time spent hunting and fishing. “If it was not in my life, I don’t know that I would be the kind of man that I am today.”

This deep connection to the outdoors is something he’s passing down to his kids. “It’s one of the greatest experiences of my life, and the thing that I probably treasure the most outside of my marriage,” Janson shared, reflecting on time spent hunting with his children. Especially close to him is his 11-year-old son, Jesse, whom he lovingly calls a “carbon copy” of himself.

Janson doesn’t shy away from his values, either. “I love my wife, I love my kids… I love hunting and fishing… I love everything that goes along with it,” he said. “It’s not just about the harvest. It’s really just about the experience, mostly.”

His love for nature reflects something deeply biblical.

God created the earth not just to sustain us, but to share with us—inviting us to find joy, peace and connection with Him through His creation. As Genesis 1:31 (MEV) says, “God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.”

When we step into the woods, cast a line into the water or watch the sunrise with our children, we’re participating in that goodness.

For Janson, faith, family and the great outdoors aren’t just part of life—they are life. And in a world that’s always rushing, it’s refreshing to see someone who’s content finding peace in the woods, guided by faith and purpose.
