Are we about to experience a global catastrophe no one saw coming?
In a report by the Independent, it was noted that OpenAI is in the process of appointing a “head of preparedness” to be on the front lines of AI’s risks.
Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI and creator of ChatGPT, reportedly stated, “This will be a stressful job, and you’ll jump into the deep end pretty much immediately.”
As The Independent further noted, Altman shared that, “The potential impact of models on mental health was something we saw a preview of in 2025; we are just now seeing models get so good at computer security they are beginning to find crucial vulnerabilities.”
The Guardian pointed out that while the job comes with a $555,000 yearly salary, the position comes as experts are fearful of artificial intelligence making a “turn against us.”
There may even be a precedent to fear for the worst in this scenario. Time magazine wrote that they believe “A UN-anchored mechanism offers wider inclusion and reduces duplication among rival coalitions.” Not only are we to be concerned now about the dangers of AI, but about a world alliance to combat it. Could AI not only change how our daily lives work, but also usher some fashion of a one-world government with the hopes of bringing in peace?

Scripture repeatedly warns of a time when knowledge would rapidly increase (Dan. 12:4). When systems would arise capable of exerting unprecedented global control (Rev. 13). Technology that promises safety and unity can, in the wrong hands, become a tool for deception, surveillance and control, especially in a world increasingly willing to trade freedom for security.
As AI grows more persuasive, more autonomous and more embedded in daily life, the church must remain anchored in truth, guided by the Holy Spirit and grounded in Scripture. In a season where human wisdom and artificial intelligence are exalted, believers are reminded that true peace and salvation will never come from algorithms or global systems, but from the returning King whose kingdom cannot be replicated or replaced.
