Iranian officials shared their joy for the Democratic Party’s victory in the midterm elections.

Iranian parliamentary speaker and chief negotiator Mohammed Baqer Qalibaf wrote on X, “Conscience or the cost of living, Americans said NO TO WAR, and we endorse this message. If the US govt betrays their public will to serve international paymasters and blackmailers, it will learn our NO comes with a Nightmare.”

Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei similarly celebrated the blow to President Trump, writing, “Those who still harbour even the slightest hope that the behaviour of the hegemonic system might change through partisan or factional shifts, or who imagine that making concessions to the United States can dissuade it from hostility towards the Iranian nation, are seriously mistaken.”

In a separate statement on X, Iran’s Supreme Leader called the United States the “Great Satan” and condemned its want of Iranian surrender. “The slightest inclination toward submission would cause the immense capital acquired through the blessings brought by the blood of our martyrs and the sacrifices of the entire Iranian nation to be lost,” he said. “It would embolden the enemy to launch more wars, and carry out its next acts of aggression.”

President Trump has doubled down on the fight to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. He explained to Fox News host Sean Hannity that the conflict is a “very soft war,” and said, “It was the road to a nuclear weapon for Iran. And Iran is the number one state sponsor of terror anywhere in the world.”

“And for we’re talking about for the last 50 years, what they did, they’ve killed so many of our soldiers, so many people,” he added before stating that they’ve “done this for years, and it was time for us to stop them.”

“We cannot let Iran, an evil nation that killed many of our people. Soleimani is an example, no longer with us, but killed many of our people. We cannot let them have a nuclear weapon,” Trump stated.
