For anyone who has prayed, believed and waited so long that breakthrough feels distant, Abby Trivett has a much-needed message: Don’t stop believing. God still moves suddenly.
Trivett, author of The Power of Suddenly, joined Katie Souza on “Faith With Katie” to unpack a pattern she says God began showing her throughout Scripture.
“The word suddenly, it is all over Scripture,” Trivett said. “It’s in the beginning, it’s in the end, it’s in the Old Testament, it’s in the New Testament, and it’s all about how He does things and about His miracle power.”
Sometimes, however, suddenly comes after years of waiting.

Abraham and Sarah waited decades for Isaac. The woman with the issue of blood suffered for 12 years before reaching for Jesus. Trivett pointed to that woman as one of Scripture’s clearest pictures of what happens when faith refuses to surrender.
“She said, ‘All I have to do is touch the hem of His garment and I will be healed,’” Trivett said. Jesus ultimately told her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
Trivett has watched that principle hit close to home.
Her mother had endured multiple heart surgeries, severe pain and difficulty walking. At one point, she could barely stand without intense pain and was forced to relearn how to walk. Then progress began coming rapidly.
Within weeks, Trivett said her mother went from struggling to stand to walking, climbing stairs and regaining independence. She also saw her mother’s joy and mental clarity returning.
“God has been restoring her steps literally like day after day,” Trivett said.
Souza described it as “sudden improvement” — a reminder that a suddenly can begin when circumstances that have remained stuck finally start moving forward.
For Trivett, one key to enduring the wait is filling our minds and mouths with God’s Word.
“You have to start speaking the Word of God over your life,” she said. “It’s telling yourself the truth until you stop believing the lies.”
And when doubt returns?
“Don’t stop believing that He can and that He will,” Trivett said.
The waiting may have been long. The promise may look distant. But The Power of Suddenly carries an encouraging reminder straight from the pages of Scripture: God can change a situation faster than we ever imagined.
