A U.S. Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President JD Vance’s protective detail has reportedly been placed on administrative leave after allegedly leaking sensitive information about Vance and his family’s security operations.
According to reporting by the Daily Mail, the agent is accused of disclosing details about the vice president’s travel schedule and the concerns of members of his protective team. White House officials reportedly viewed the disclosures as a serious security breach because they revealed operational information related to protecting the vice president and his family.
The published report included details about planned family travel and cited anonymous sources familiar with Vance’s schedule and security arrangements.

In response, Secret Service Deputy Director Matt Quinn defended the expectations placed on agents assigned to protective details.
“When US Secret Service Special Agents choose to join a protective detail, they understand the commitment required: long hours, frequent travel, and the need for constant flexibility,” Quinn said.
He added, “Nights, weekends, and holidays are part of the job. Our agents work tirelessly to ensure protectees’ safety and security, while also preserving normalcy to the extent possible.”
Quinn also emphasized that “this is a job that requires absolute dedication and discipline.”
The vice president’s office expressed confidence in the agency, telling the outlet that the Vance family is “grateful to the men and women of the US Secret Service who serve our country with distinction.”
“While protecting a vice president with a large policy portfolio and a young and growing family presents a unique challenge, agents of the Secret Service do so with excellence every day,” the statement continued.
According to the Daily Mail, the agent is now under investigation by the Secret Service’s internal affairs division. It remains unclear whether the employee will face administrative discipline, criminal charges, or both.
