An Israeli artist has unveiled a unique working clock inspired by what she believes is the ancient calendar once used by the priests who served in Israel’s First Temple, adding another modern expression to the growing interest surrounding biblical Temple worship.
According to Israel365 News, artist Ruchama Tirosh’s latest creation, called “Dror,” combines three separate calendars into a single functioning clock. The design incorporates a 354-day lunar calendar associated with the Levites, a 364-day solar calendar connected to the Temple priesthood and a third 360-day calendar representing the nation of Israel.
Tirosh said the project draws on decades of research into Jewish sacred texts and traditions, with each layer of the clock representing the partnership between Israel’s priests, Levites and people in maintaining the rhythm of biblical worship.
Reviving Ancient Temple Traditions
The clock also reflects ongoing scholarly discussion surrounding the 364-day priestly calendar found among the Dead Sea Scrolls. Some researchers believe those writings preserve traditions dating back to the First Temple period and the priestly families who served there.
The design incorporates the 24 priestly divisions described in 1 Chronicles, the 12 tribes of Israel, the priestly breastplate, the 613 commandments and other biblical symbols into a single display.
Tirosh said she hopes one day to see a monumental version of the clock installed in the courtyard of a future Temple in Jerusalem.

Why It Matters
Projects like this are significant because Scripture points to a future Temple that will play a central role in end-times prophecy. Jesus referenced the Temple in His Olivet Discourse, Paul wrote that the man of lawlessness will one day sit in God’s Temple, and the book of Revelation describes a Temple standing in Jerusalem during the Tribulation before Christ’s return.
While the Dror clock is an artistic expression rather than a fulfillment of prophecy, it reflects a growing interest in Israel’s biblical heritage, the priesthood and Temple worship. We see these developments as reminders that God’s prophetic Word is unfolding exactly as He said it would.
Just as importantly, the renewed interest in the Temple and the promises God made to Israel reminds us to pray for the Jewish people. We long for the day when many will recognize Jesus as the promised Messiah and welcome their true King, fulfilling God’s redemptive plan for Israel and the nations.
