Fear is one of the enemy’s oldest weapons. Whether it comes through cultural pressure, spiritual attacks or the weight of past failures, many believers find themselves living intimidated instead of walking in the authority Christ has already won for them.

In a powerful sermon, #1 New York Times bestselling author and prophetic teacher Jonathan Cahn challenged Christians to reject that mindset, reminding them that their identity in Christ calls them to courage, not compromise.

“You are a spiritual Israelite,” Cahn declared. “You are not supposed to be fearing the enemy or fearing the demons. You are supposed to be making the demons tremble.

Drawing parallels between modern Israel and the life of every believer, Cahn said the Jewish nation’s remarkable survival despite overwhelming opposition is evidence of a much greater spiritual reality. Israel’s unique place in God’s prophetic plan, he argued, explains why it has remained at the center of global conflict throughout history.

“The world is against it because the forces of darkness are against it,” Cahn said. “It makes no sense in the natural, only in the supernatural.”

That same spiritual battle should not come as a surprise to us. Cahn reminded fellow believers that following Christ means living contrary to the world’s values and expectations.

“The world is also against you,” he said. “If you’re living for God, the darkness hates you and comes against you.”

Rather than viewing spiritual opposition as a sign that something is wrong, Cahn encouraged Christians to see it as confirmation that God has placed a significant calling on their lives.

“If you’re being attacked, that shows you the greatness of the purpose that God has for you,” he said. “The enemy doesn’t waste his time.”

Instead of yielding to fear, anxiety or intimidation, Cahn urged believers to embrace the confidence that comes from belonging to God’s kingdom.

“God wants you to live courageously,” he said. “That means confidently. I have confidence not in me, but I have confidence in God.”

Using Israel’s military resolve as an illustration, Cahn emphasized that believers are called to fight spiritual battles instead of accepting defeat.

“You are a soldier of the Lord,” he said. “You’re a warrior in the Spirit. You’re not supposed to just take it from the enemy.”

He continued, “You’re not supposed to be overwhelmed. You’re not supposed to take the darkness, take the fear, take the depression, take the trauma, take the victimhood.”

Cahn also pointed to one of the Bible’s recurring themes: God’s people overcome not only through strength, but through worship.

“The power of worship is powerful. The power of praise is powerful. The power of joy is powerful to overcome,” he said, noting that throughout Scripture Israel often experienced victory as it praised God.

Perhaps the strongest reminder of the message came as Cahn reflected on Israel’s miraculous rebirth as a nation. Just as Israel’s restoration defied human expectations, he said every believer’s new life in Christ is itself a miracle.

“You don’t live by what you were according to the world,” Cahn said. “You live in spite of the world, in spite of your circumstance, in spite of your past. You live what God called you to be.”

Victory is not found in human ability but in embracing the identity Christ has already secured. Scripture repeatedly reminds us that we are more than conquerors through Him. When we choose faith over fear, worship over worry and courage over compromise, we become living testimonies that the power of God is still breaking chains, overcoming darkness and transforming lives today.
