Brandon Blackstock, beloved father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, passed peacefully on August 7, 2025, at the age of 48, after a courageous three-year battle with melanoma. Surrounded by his family and upheld by prayer, he left this world with quiet strength and steadfast faith.
Born in 1977, Brandon was raised in a family where love and loyalty transcended bloodlines. His stepmother, Reba McEntire, would often say she loved him “like he was my blood,” a bond that reflected the grace and unity God can weave into a family’s story. That deep sense of belonging and connection became a cornerstone of Brandon’s own life as a father.

He poured his heart into raising his four children—Savannah, Seth, River and Remington—instilling in them the values of love, resilience and integrity. Becoming a grandfather brought him immeasurable joy. In 2022, he welcomed his grandson Lake, and just a month before his passing, his daughter Savannah shared that she is expecting a baby girl in January 2026.
Though his illness was known only to those closest to him, he faced each day with courage. Friends and family recall that he carried himself with grace, even in trials.
His marriage to Kelly Clarkson from 2013 to 2022 was marked by shared joys, challenges and the deep bond of parenting River and Remington together. Even after their separation, mutual respect and commitment to their children remained. In his final season, Kelly paused her Las Vegas residency to be present for their children—an act that reflected the unity and compassion that faith in God makes possible, even through life’s changes.
