The ancient Passover story contains revealing symbolism that is extremely relevant for us today. God’s people, Israel (who are an illustration of the Church), were living in captivity in Egypt (which is a symbol of the world). They were being oppressed by the powers of darkness that were being forced upon them through Pharaoh, who is a representation of Satan. Pharaoh had no mercy. He only intended to do one thing, and that was to subject God’s people to slavery. Pharaoh wanted to take their freedom away.
Similarly, you and I, as God’s people today, are living in a world where we find ourselves oppressed by the powers of darkness and Satan himself. Satan has one thing intended for us – to take us captive and separate us from the freedom that Jesus brings (2 Tim. 2:26). But just like ancient Israel was delivered by God through the blood of a lamb at Passover, we have been redeemed by the blood of Yeshua – the ultimate and eternal Lamb of God. 3,500 years ago, at the first Passover, God intervened in the lives of His chosen people. In an instant, He changed the course of the entire Nation of Israel, freeing them and bringing them to Himself. That is why Passover is called the Festival of Freedom. And, Father has the same desire and intent for us.
Yeshua said, ” So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free” (John 8:36).
As we consider Passover, I want to ask you today – do you have a vision of freedom for yourself? Can you picture yourself victorious, full of joy, and with supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding?
Do you believe that you can really be free?
Even though you may be struggling right now and experiencing disappointment and pain in your heart – I want you to know, beloved one, you are not always going to be feeling this way. God is going to bring you into complete and absolute freedom. There is something greater for you that God has planned, and it will make all your sorrows disappear.
“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you” (Romans 16:20).
The freedom that Father is bringing us into is often not something that happens all at once. Even after the Lord delivered Israel out of Egypt, it was still 40 years before they reached their promised land. The Lord said to Israel when they were in the wilderness, “I’m not going to drive out all these nations before you at once. Because you would not be able to occupy the land safely if I did it all at once. You would not be ready for it.”
“But I’m going to drive out your enemies from you little by little” (Exodus 23:30).
Likewise, we may not be where we want to be today. But we need to realize that we are much farther along than we were a year ago – if we are truly pursuing the Lord. God is driving out our enemies, little by little, just like He did for Israel. As we “stay the course,” we will continue to make progress toward the ultimate goal – God Himself.
We are moving deeper into freedom. We are continually going forward, being transformed from grace to grace, from glory to glory, and strength to strength. We may not be experiencing perfect freedom today, but we are on a journey into freedom. And as long as we are being changed, as long as we are getting freer each day – we are successful. We are on a path towards perfection—more and more we are being transformed into His likeness. And our Father has promised that He will complete the good work that He started in us.
“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1: 6).

I want to call each and every one of us into freedom today. First, we need to realize and be fully convinced that there is so much more. Jesus promised:
“I came so that they would have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).
Secondly, we need to repent if we are allowing things into our life that would rob us of our freedom. The enemy, just like Pharaoh in Egypt, wants to deter, overwhelm, and keep us from our ultimate freedom in Yeshua. We need to seek God’s forgiveness, cleansing, and deliverance from anything in our lives that are “roadblocks” in our relationship with Him.
Beloved, Passover is truly a remarkable season of freedom. Let’s stay the course, keeping our eyes on Messiah Yeshua, awaiting His return.
“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who remain, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17).
