Shawn Bolz, a former church pastor, has found his purpose in the media world, where he believes God is shifting many Christian leaders. During an interview with Charisma Media, Bolz explains that he transitioned from ministry to entertainment during the COVID-19 pandemic, sensing that God was calling him to leave the pulpit and move into mainstream industries like media, business and politics.
“I felt like God was deploying a lot of people from church-centric ministry to mainstream industries,” Bolz says. This personal shift was confirmed when TBN’s Matt Crouch invited him to join their network. Bolz recalls Crouch asking him to provide commentary and appear on new shows. Crouch even suggested Bolz start his own broadcast show. Despite initial hesitation, Bolz eventually launched The Shawn Bolz Show.

The program took off faster than Bolz anticipated. “We were in the top 10 of all news and number one or two in news commentary in the world,” he shares. The show remains a consistent hit, often ranking in the top 100 each week. Bolz attributes the show’s success to its unique approach: instead of focusing on negativity or controversy, he offers a redemptive perspective on current events.
One of the driving principles of the show is its focus on what God is doing, rather than what people or the enemy are doing wrong. Bolz stresses the importance of seeing God’s hand in every situation, particularly in chaotic or discouraging times.
“In the midst of a world of confusion, He has a sound mind, and we can have a sound mind,” he says. “We have to ask ourselves, in the midst of everything going on, ‘Where is God in this?’” Bolz believes Christians often become discouraged because they focus too much on the turmoil in the world rather than seeking to understand God’s plan.
Bolz also sees hope in the cultural revivals taking place. He cites the “Jesus Revolution” film and the Asbury revival as signs of another worldwide revival. Bolz explains that events like these show that God is still at work in the world, even in places like California, which many Christians have written off because of its radical left-wing leadership. “God has a destiny in that state,” Bolz says.
Through his show, Bolz encourages Christians to ask themselves, “What is God doing in this?” He believes it is essential to look for God’s hand in every situation, especially when faced with difficult societal issues, such as transgender rights or political polarization. “If you’re not encouraged, that means you’re not looking at God; you’re looking at everything else,” Bolz says.
Bolz’s message is clear: Christians should focus on God’s redemptive work rather than being consumed by negativity or fear. As the Bible says in Romans 8:37, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Christians are called to walk in victory, keeping their eyes on what God is doing, even in the midst of chaos.
