“They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces will never be ashamed” (Psalm 34:5).
David says, “They looked.” But who looked?
God’s children are the ones looking. His precious saints, those who have been set apart unto Him, and who He has chosen out of the world to be His.
Beloved, when King David says, “they looked to Him…”, he is referring to – you!
Because, when we set our sights on Father, keeping ourselves fully focused on Him, we are going to have victory in our lives. When we resist being pulled to the left and avoid distractions that would cause us to look to the right, and instead fix our gaze straightforward on our Lord – we will stand tall and be strong.
But, as long as we are on earth, we must continue to fight the battles day by day knowing as they occur. The powers of darkness will oppose us. Remember, Jesus talked about overcoming seven times in the Book of Revelation, chapters 2 and 3. He wanted us understand, be prepared, and stay diligent. He knew there would be obstacles, assaults and roadblocks that we would face on our journey home. Again, the darkness by nature will always resist the light.

Here are two examples:
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God” (Revelation 2:7).
“He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne” (Revelation 3:21).
We have to become overcomers. It is a necessary progression that matures us into Father’s sons and daughters. It requires action, determination, and a focus on God! Overcoming is a choice, is built on trust and fueled by faith. But we must keep our eyes on Him throughout each battle, confident that we will overcome and become, as David said, “Radiant.”
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5). NIV
Father is going to create a supernatural youth in us as we cling to Him in our battles. We may even begin to look different because of the supernatural joy of God that emanates from us!
For example, do you know anybody or have you ever seen someone, that when they are doing well in the Lord, you can actually see the glory of God on them? Physically, you can literally see it. There is light coming from them. But when you take that same individual and they are not walking in God’s strength they look totally different. It seems as if they have aged 15 years. Then a week later, you see them again and they are radiating with light and it looks like they are 15 years younger again.
You see, the Holy Spirit will actually give life to our mortal flesh.
“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (Romans 8:11)
It is important that we realize that the Spirit of the Lord is real. He is not imagined or some fairytale. He actually exists. We may not see Him with our natural eyes, but neither can we see gravity, electromagnetic fields, or radio waves—but their existence is undeniable.
The Spirit of God is real and has tangibility. Here are some ways the Bible describes Him:
Wind
“And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting” (Acts 1:2).
Fire
“And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them” (Acts 2:3).
Water
“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” (John 7:38).
The Holy Spirit is real and is essential to overcoming and living victoriously in our world.
Again, David said, “They looked to Him and were radiant, … and will never be put to shame.” “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place” (2 Corinthians 2:14). No matter what we face in life, we are overwhelmingly conquerors.
Furthermore, we are assured that nothing can ever remove us from God’s love.
“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38, 39).
Be immersed in and convinced of who you are in God. You are a champion! You are a precious and irreplaceable child of the Father. You are born of His Spirit, and your destiny is Heaven, where you will reign with Him forever!
Beloved, there is an undefeatable banner of victory over our lives. We are God’s Children! We are overcomers! Because we are born of His Spirit! Father, we love and honor and thank you, King Jesus!
