Being lukewarm is one of the worst things any of us could possibly be. The book of Revelation tells us that those who are lukewarm will be spit out from God’s mouth, cast away from His presence. The question is, are there signs to know if you are lukewarm?

In a recent video, Isaiah Saldivar discussed seven signs you can look for to know if you are lukewarm.

“There is no such thing in the Bible as a lukewarm Christian,” Saldivar says. “If you are lukewarm, you’re not saved, and God is going to vomit you out of His mouth.”

1. You are indifferent toward the Word of God.

Saldivar says those who are indifferent to the Word of God, who do not prioritize spending time with Jesus show signs of being lukewarm.

“There’s no prioritizing reading the Word, there’s no prioritizing studying the Word, there’s no desire to obey Scripture,” says Saldivar. “You treat God casually, and God is an option.”

2. A lukewarm person compromises with sin.

“Instead of striving for a life of holiness…the lukewarm person tolerates sin in their life,” Saldivar says.

He points out that a lukewarm person will excuse their behavior and continue to live in sin, even though that is contrary to the Word of God.

“They don’t see the danger of sin. They don’t see the fact that sin wants to destroy your life, that God hates it so much He sent His only son to die as your sin for your sin so you don’t have to live in it any longer.”

3. Lukewarm people have a lack of zeal for the Lord.

Those who are lukewarm do not have a passion and a desire to worship the Lord, to pray and to commune with Jesus.

“No passion for worship, no passion for prayer, no excitement to serve others,” he continues. “Worship to the lukewarm feels boring, dull routine and an obligation rather than a heartfelt privilege.”

4. Those who are lukewarm are worldly.

Those who are lukewarm have a heart for the things and pleasures of this world more than they do for God.

“The prioritize materialism, success and the pleasures of this world over spiritual growth and the fires of God,” Saldivar says. “This person loves celebrities, they love celebrity culture and they’re more worried about what celebrities are doing than what God is doing.”

5. Those who are lukewarm fail to interact in godly fellowship with others.

“They avoid gathering with other believers or engaging in godly community and accountability,” Saldivar says.

6. Those who are lukewarm do not engage in prayer.

“A lukewarm person no longer has a vibrant prayer life,” he says. “They only pray out of emergencies and habits.”

However, it is through prayer that we seek and find the presence of the Lord. We are supposed to constantly be praying, continuously seeking Him and His goodness.

7. The lukewarm person does not care about those who are lost and far from God.

“The lukewarm rarely ever shares their faith with anybody; they rarely ever lead anyone to Christ. They rather focus on their own comfort and their own life. They’re self-centered, self-sufficient and unconcerned with the fact that people are going to hell on a daily basis,” Saldivar says.
