Tammie Southerland freely admits that, for a period of time in her life, she once succumbed to the enemy’s lies and her passion for Jesus began to wane. But once it was rekindled, she rediscovered her kingdom calling, and her passion for Christ hasn’t wavered since.
And that’s why it breaks Southerland’s heart to see a great portion of the church living in compromise to the world these days. The leader of Frontline Ministries International and the host of the Voice of The Burning Ones Podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network, Southerland’s desire is to help lead believers out of that compromised lifestyle and into a holy hunger and completely surrendered relationship with Christ.
Her podcast includes interviews with prophetic, powerful voices who live to gaze on the beauty of Jesus.
“It says in 2 Thessalonians that the great falling away happens because of the lack of love for the truth,” Southerland told Dr. Steve Greene on a recent episode of the Greenelines podcast on CPN. So, one of the things we are seeing these days in the church is that our love has grown cold for the truth of the Word of God.
“I remember when I was a student in college, The Passion of the Christ was being shown during that season. And a big statement that we made with our campus ministry was the week we posed the question, ‘What is truth?’ There were so many different answers to that question. So many students and adults alike said truth is relative, but the truth is the Word of God, and so we had this challenge in our generation to compromise.
“Truth isn’t relative to what we feel or what we think. Jesus is the truth. He is the way and He is the life. And so, some areas of compromise that we’ve walk in as a generation is opening our hearts and our minds to other ‘so-called truths’ or other facts that don’t line up with the Word of God.
“In Revelation 2, Jesus tells the church that they have left their first love. I think one of our biggest areas of compromise in the body is our compromise of the love of Jesus. We have other lovers besides Christ, and we walk away from Him as our first love. What scares me the most is that when many come to Him, they will say, ‘we’ve cast out demons, we’ve healed the sick and we’ve brought deliverance to the nation.’ But He will look at them and say, ‘depart from me; I never knew you.’ So, that intimacy with Him is so important. We can’t compromise when it comes to Him knowing us and us knowing Him.”
