Speaking from the K-LOVE Fan Awards to ChurchLeaders, the actor reflected on the significance of the event and the fans who make it so special. “The fans. I mean, what else? It’s in the title,” Roumie said. “It’s about the fans and the love that they show all of us, which is just unbelievable.”
But back on set, the tone shifts as the cast approaches one of the most difficult scenes in the entire series. “The crucifixion. There’s no way to get around the difficulty of that on so many levels,” Roumie shared. “Just trying to be ready for it and trying to… I don’t know, just empty myself, right? And allow the Lord to just be with me throughout the process.”
Having embodied the role of Jesus over the course of six seasons, the actor admitted that this season is the most physically demanding yet. “I’ve been training specifically for this season, and so there’s been a lot of self-sacrifice in order to bring my idea of how I want Jesus to feel and look for season 6,” he said. “Yeah… a thousand percent, this has taken a toll.”
For those wanting to support him, Roumie had one simple request. “Pray that I get out of my own way and allow God to just continue to lead me forward.”
