Pentecost is a dynamic holiday that marks the initial outpouring of the Holy Spirit, as seen in Acts 2. This event actually has an origin thousands of years prior and was called Shavuot in Hebrew. According to tradition, this was when God appeared to the children of Israel at Mt Sinai and gave them revelation of who He was through the Ten Commandments. We read in the New Covenant Scriptures that after the event of Pentecost, we now receive God’s revelation and divine instructions not on tablets of stone, but upon our hearts.

“THIS IS THE COVENANT WHICH I WILL MAKE WITH THEM AFTER THOSE DAYS, DECLARES THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS UPON THEIR HEARTS, AND WRITE THEM ON THEIR MIND,” (Heb. 10:16, NASB).

When the Holy Spirit was given at Pentecost, the following are some of the Scriptures that were fulfilled.

Ezekiel prophesied, “And I will put My Spirit within you and bring it about that you walk in My statutes, and are careful and follow My ordinances” (Ezek. 36:27).

Jesus said, “And behold, I am sending the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49).

Yeshua also declared, “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, so that He may be with you forever; the Helper is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him; but you know Him because He remains with you and will be in you” (John 14:16-17).

Beloved, because we have received the life-changing gift of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), we should ask ourselves: Why?

“I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them at the present time. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take from Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine; this is why I said that He takes from Mine and will disclose it to you” (John 16:12-15).

Let’s dissect what Jesus is saying: The Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth. He will impart revelation. The Holy Spirit will take of Jesus—His heart, His nature, His will for our live—and reveal it to us. “Thank You, Father, for Your incredible promise to us.”

The Spirit is God’s manifest presence unto us. HaShem is in heaven, but the Spirit, the Ruach HaKodesh, is here on earth to disclose God to us and bring us closer to Him.

Father gave us His Spirit to continually empower us, abide in us and demonstrate His boundless love for us! God desired to give us more revelation of Himself. The gift of the Spirit is our breath; it is our life. Without the Spirit, we cannot truly know Him or fully belong to Him.

Paul said: “However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him” (Rom. 8:9).

Ahuveem (Hebrew for “beloved ones”), Father has also given us His Spirit in the name of Yeshua so we would have the power to be His witnesses.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and as far as the remotest part of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

The gift of the Spirit is to know God. But equally important is for us to be empowered to become His witnesses by making Him known. Each of us should pray every day for the opportunity to share Jesus with someone. There are people all around us who do not know Yeshua. Let us ask Father to open doors for us to be His ambassadors

I want to pray that the Spirit of the Lord will bring you and me into a deeper encounter of intimacy to fully experience the love of God, and that we will walk daily in obedience by being His witnesses.

Father God, we worship You today, and we love You. Abba, we need You. Lord, we are hungry, we are thirst, and desire to be fully surrendered to You. We feel like David, who said, “As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, God” (Ps. 42:1).

Father, we ask You to manifest the presence and power of Your Holy Spirit in and throughout our lives. We ask that You would draw us into the heart of Jesus. We pray that we would experience Your love for us individually, specifically and purposefully as never before. Thank You for Your Spirit, Abba Yahweh. And Father God, give us fire that we would be Your witnesses. That we would be like Jeremiah (Jer. 20:9) and not be able to hold our mouths shut. Help us, Daddy, to be Your light everywhere that we go. Lord, create opportunities for us to share Your Son, and give us the boldness to do it!

Father, we love You. We want to obey You. We want to know You fully, and we want to make You known. Amen.
