Perhaps one of the scariest parts of artificial intelligence is how it is being used as a substitute for true, human companionship.
In a new report by Axios, it was revealed how women in particularly are being drawn to using ‘companion apps’ to seek out love and connection.
According to Axios, “Engagement on companion apps is also ‘unusually high’ compared to other apps.”
Customizing chatbots and avatars, people can essentially create the kind of person and experience they want to talk with. They can also add audio and video to make their experience with the avatar however they would like.
Yet this isn’t the first time we’re hearing about people seeking love through AI. Earlier this year, we heard about Framis, a Spanish-Dutch artist who was set to marry a hologram.
In China, the first ever AI-generated child known as Tong Tong was created. Now, instead of seeking out family, friends and relationships with other people, people are seeking out fulfillment through the artificial intelligence.

God provides a promise to His people in Jeremiah 30:17: “For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the LORD.”
If God is the only One who can truly make us whole, then it is Him and Him alone that we should seek first. From our relationship with Him, we can then pour into others and see them through the eyes of our heavenly Father. Let’s pray that more people would seek Him first for love and fulfillment above all others.
