Tony Evans has finally returned to public ministry again.
After moving away from his pastoral duties with Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas because of “sin,” Evans came back to speaking at this year’s The FAMiLY Leader Summit, which was held on July 11, 2025.

While Evans did not disclose the reason why he stepped away from the pulpit, he has now come back to encourage Christians to make the Great Commission their life’s passion.
“I am privileged and honored for this opportunity to be here at the summit,” says Evans.

Evans discussed how God is calling His people to be the light that shines in the darkness to a broken and confused world.
“God has a deputized group of men and women, people who have been duly authorized to act on his behalf in history to bring the values of the kingdom up north to the chaos on the field of play in the culture,” he says. “Whether that chaos is racial chaos, political chaos, social chaos, gender chaos, whatever the conflicting views are on the field of play, this deputized community of people have been so authorized to act on behalf of heaven in the midst of the conflicts of earth.”
Evans then talked about the Great Commission that Jesus gave us in Matthew 28 to go and preach the gospel to all creation.
“There is a responsibility even in the midst of chaos. And so [Jesus] says. ‘I want you to make disciples,'” Evans continues. “Your engagement beyond your individual life and your family and your churches is strategic for the culture.”

It is unclear right now as to whether or not Evans will pick up his pastoral role again at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship.
