A recent study published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine indicates that individuals undergoing gender-affirming surgeries may face heightened psychological distress, including depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. The research suggests that stigma and lack of gender affirmation contribute to these adverse mental health outcomes.
The results portion of the study wrote, “From 107,583 patients, matched cohorts demonstrated that those undergoing surgery were at significantly higher risk for depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and substance use disorders than those without surgery.”

The left continues to aggressively push gender-affirming surgeries, especially on minors, despite the fact that the long-term health consequences remain largely unknown and the results are irreversible. Activists and some medical institutions promote these life-altering procedures as the only solution for gender dysphoria, often discouraging alternative treatments such as counseling or therapy. Yet, growing evidence suggests that many individuals experience severe regret, mental health struggles, and permanent physical harm after undergoing these interventions.
Once healthy bodies are subjected to hormone treatments and surgical alterations, there is no way to fully reverse the damage. Instead of prioritizing caution and thorough psychological evaluations, the left insists on fast-tracking vulnerable children into medical transitions, ignoring the potential lifelong suffering that may result.
Further research is essential to fully understand these dynamics and to develop supportive interventions for transgender individuals considering or undergoing such procedures.
