Rick Renner and his wife, Denise, have lived in Russia for over three decades. When they occasionally return to the United States, they’ve been stunned by what they see taking place in American culture.
Concerned about what he sees happening, Renner wrote “How to Keep Your Head on Straight in a World Gone Crazy.” He believes that as Christians, we need to know what the Bible says about the deception in our culture today. Just because the world goes crazy around us doesn’t mean we have to join in.

Often our culture can make Christians feel marginalized. We are called narrow-minded and bigots. But Christians are not the ones who changed. “We believe the same things we’ve always believed,” Renner says.
In 1 Timothy 4:1b (NLT), the apostle Paul tells us, “In the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.” That is what is what is taking place, society is being seduced to leave a strong, moral path and to veer onto a dangerous, treacherous immoral path.
If people don’t know the Bible, they will make poor decisions. And that is why Christians need to learn how to recognize right and wrong thinking as well as the delusions that are being perpetrated in the media, schools and courts.
Even today, many churches are abandoning teaching the Bible. But Christians can stay on track because the Word of God is our foundation and our guide. Because people are morally confused, it’s the responsibility of the church to lift its voice and speak the truth without fear of retribution.
Too many people call darkness “light” and light “darkness,” but we are God’s prophetic voice on earth, and we have a responsibility to speak truth.
