Balarie advises people to take their thoughts captive from the first moment of their morning and say, “Jesus is Lord, and He is the maker of every good thing in my life. He is Creator, and I am His created. I walk not by power or might but by the Spirit of the Living God. God, I walk full of all the grace that You have for me today.”
She explains, “taking thoughts captive is taking the authority that Jesus has given us in our lives and executing it, putting it into action and putting it into faith.”
If you’ve been going through the motions, and life has been tough, you need to wake every day with a fresh start, giving God all the glory first. Then He will come into your day and change your live and your outlook. The feelings of being overwhelmed with negativity and confusion will be dwarfed by the Word of God’s truth.
Even if you’re on board and with God in the morning, by the afternoon you can turn into a hot mess. What should you do when things get tough? You must store God’s Word in your mind and heart. You can make a shift in your thoughts, knowing you can walk in the power of God with a sound mind.
Condemnation and shame are tools of the enemy, but the life-giving power of the Spirit can free you from the power of sin that leads to death. No one has it all together all the time. Fight the good fight and remember that as a believer, you are no longer walking under the power of sin that leads to death. You are walking by the power of the Holy Spirit that leads you to life and peace. When believers declare that truth, they make the shift from being down, depressed, devastated and uncertain about the future to being full of His life, His peace, His purpose, His passion, His power and His presence.
