Pastor Bob Sawvelle was sitting in his home office when he felt the spark in the air.
“I was listening to a radio talk show about Dr. David Livingston, the famous missionary in Africa, about his life and different things. At that moment, the Holy Spirit began to really speak to me,” Sawvelle shares with “Charisma Connection.”
“‘I have a call in your life, a call to ministry. Your failures don’t define you. It’s your response to the call that I have on your life,'” Sawvelle remembers the Holy Spirit saying.
Sawvelle, who founded Passion Church in Tucson, Arizona, and spent time as a missionary in Haiti, says that was a turning point.
“It wasn’t crystal-clear exactly what that was going to look like from that point,” Sawvelle says. “But I began to realize that failure—that setback that I had that I thought would be debilitating—and that I would never now step into the fullness of my purpose, all of a sudden I began to realize God looked at it totally different.”
