The recent midterm elections in America have stirred, shaken, perplexed and awakened many to question what is happening in this nation. Those who have been praying for a return of moral, just, biblically based rule from state to state were shocked as results began to flood the media. A nation that had been moving in “RED” domination (conservative representation led by the predominant Republican rule) had suddenly shifted into a “BLUE WAVE” toward a liberal, more socially inclined agenda. What caused this drastic change? Some of the most questioned changes were in the states of Texas, Michigan, Ohio, Georgia and Mississippi. Not only had the changes in government redirected the use and power of the state, but these changes had fully increased the Federal rule of authority—opening the door for liberal agendas to lead in a whole new direction. Both the House and Senate in Washington, D.C., shifted from Republican to Democratic leadership.
Why do we vote? God’s children have a responsibility to vote. Government is an important entity of society that requires us to understand civil actions, recognize authority, and how territories are ruled. Government is a God-ordained part of the culture of most societies. Politics, on the other hand, is an interesting creature in society. Politics can be like a chess game. To win, one must always be seeing three moves ahead. Politics can be messy, and a political party spirit can be divisive. Politics and government are two related forces but with very different results in action. Politics can be played so that government can establish rule. In many cultures and nations, the rule of government is determined by the vote of a population. When we vote, we are affirming a person who will both serve and rule. We vote for the voice that will represent our beliefs. Many people depend upon politics to be the salvation of their future or of a nation. Never do this. You are simply casting a vote to be served and your voice and heart represented.
The shift in Texas shifted a nation for years to come. People in Texas saw a good leader of twelve years ousted by a less experienced Hispanic woman who served as a civil rights lawyer, was elected school board member and president, and then entered the political world as a member of the Texas House of Representatives. What was happening? The authority and responsibility of the State of Texas had been given to Gina Hinojosa, who will now become governor. Would Christians pray for this change when she was not their vote of choice? You could have been upset and even disillusioned. You might have even said, “I am not praying for the continued success of this State!”

But God! We occupy down here in the world secured by the boundaries of states and nations. However, as Blood-bought children of God, we live and represent another Kingdom. This Kingdom has governmental rule. This Kingdom of God has a voice! When He wants His voice and will to be heard, He chooses someone from His Kingdom to speak on His behalf. We must learn to say what He says when He says because He is the King. God doesn’t do anything without telling a prophet in His Kingdom to announce or predict.
During the early morning after acceptances and concessions had been made, I received a call and then a document reminding me of something the Lord had said and I released in Houston on September 3, 2019, when Dutch Sheets and I were ministering in a city-wide gathering. Here is that word:
“There are three things; I must say this right, we must reach down deep in the heart of Texas, a democratic republic, that something new will come out of this state. Not the same old, same old in this nation. (We must) reach deep and decree that something new will come out of God’s heart (and) will come out of this state, not something polarized, but something that represents the heart of God, the heart of God’s legislation. We say out of Texas there’s going to be a shift governmentally. Now reach down grab that stone and sling it. I heard the Lord, while Dutch was speaking, say something else, that out of Texas (there) will rise-up by 2024, a Hispanic lady that will have great ability to bring change to this nation. Out of Texas will come a Hispanic woman that will become the most influential ruling force in this nation. Lord, we say, bring that person into place Lord. This will change the course of America. Lord, we loose it now, see it in 2024, 2026. We say, raise that person up now.”
The Lord had spoken seven years prior and shared His will for a time to come. That time was now. He had changed the course of Texas and ultimately shifted a nation in a new direction. That new direction was now the Kingdom remnant’s new assignment. Remember what God said to Israel when they were taken to Babylon, “Seek peace and well-being for the place where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf; for in its peace (well-being) you will have peace.” We are called to pray for those in authority, whether we like or dislike them. My sister called after the election and in our discussion said: “Well, here is what I’m doing … I am moving through the election results and staying with what the Lord has opened up. Many will stay stuck in the past. I will move through, because the Lord has new things and new riches in store as we praise Him! Pull your boots up and stomp your path out and through to your NEW!”
I wrote this to encourage you. We are in one of the most changing times in history. This decade is one when Father God is blowing a new wind from Heaven onto the harvest fields. Heaven and Earth are aligning differently. Each nation in the world and each state in America that I travel to is in an incredible time of change. I am sure that you are personally sensing all of the changes in your own life and ministry. Find out what God has said about your place that He has you: a city, a state, a nation. Take these words and hold them before Him.
Let me remind you to embrace and process the changes you are going through. In this season of war, the real battle is over your identity for the future. One thing I am encouraging all of us to do is release the emotional weights from the past as we shed the last mantle that represented our identity. I am encouraging each one to create some space so you can see your path ahead differently. When Israel entered the Promised Land, the Lord lifted the cloud and fire of His Presence and set a new order for their movement; that order was formed by the Ark of the Covenant. He told them, “You have not been this way before—give the Ark some space so you follow correctly.” Likewise, give yourself some time and stillness to hear, to “be still and know.” I pray your steps are being ordered in a whole new way. I pray new faith arise in you and the changes around you come fully into the perfect plan of God.
