In the final moments before a private jet crashed in Florida, killing all nine people aboard, someone reportedly turned to one of Christianity’s most familiar prayers.

According to the New York Post, a male voice could apparently be heard reciting part of the Lord’s Prayer as the aircraft rapidly descended toward the ground on Sunday, Nov. 1.

“Who art in heaven, hallowed be the name,” the voice reportedly said.

The chilling recording offers a glimpse into the desperate final moments aboard the doomed flight.

The Learjet 60 was traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when the crew encountered dangerous conditions. According to Reuters, the pilots reported ice and moderate turbulence before the aircraft suddenly began plummeting toward the ground.

As the situation deteriorated, 20-year-old co-pilot Nathalia Filgueiras reportedly described the terrifying descent.

“Mayday, mayday,” the crew called out as the plane descended at approximately 10,000 feet per minute.

“We’re going to crash into the ground,” Filgueiras reportedly warned.

As the aircraft continued its rapid descent, another devastating statement was heard by Filgueiras: “We’re out of time.”

The aircraft crashed near Cresthaven in Palm Beach County around 12:50 p.m., leaving behind a massive crater and flames near residential homes.

Filgueiras was among the nine people killed. Her family confirmed her death to the New York Post. According to People, she dreamed of flying since childhood and earned her pilot’s license at just 17.

Amid the heartbreaking details of the tragedy, the reported sound of the Lord’s Prayer stands out: a familiar expression of faith heard as the flight came to its devastating end. During this time, pray for the families who have been affected by this horrible tragedy.
